Every Person Counts – Assemble’s award-winning initiative to drive positive ED&I change
27 November 2023
Assemble Media Group’s ED&I initiative, Every Person Counts, won the Diversity and Inclusion award at the PPA independent publishing awards on the 24th November.
The PPA judges remarked that the entry ‘covered all aspects of D&I and are committed to driving change.’
The initiative was created to make sure Assemble champions diversity and inclusion in the built environment communities it serves and that it’s at the heart of everything it does. Assemble’s three leading B2B publications – Building, Housing Today and Building Design – share a mission to help organisations be inclusive employers, overcome chronic skills shortages and tackle their image problem, as companies that historically have not hired people from diverse backgrounds.
A number of ideas and approaches have been used to promote and encourage ED&I. This has included editorial campaigns, the creation of award categories, supporting flag-bearers in the industry as well as providing a platform and opportunities for new voices.
Cameron Marshall, commercial director, said:
Quality is at the centre of our thinking when producing our programme of events and content across all three of our brands. We are especially pleased that this has been recognised with the recent independent PPA award for our “Every Person Counts” campaign, which exemplifies our efforts in championing diversity and inclusion across all our output.
Chloe McCulloch, editorial director, added:
We will continue to strive for improvement in ED&I within the built environment, but it’s always fantastic to be recognised for what we’ve done so far, from giving visibility to underrepresented perspectives and making it a key element of our work.
